Level 16 — Residential Area

Video Walkthrough

Objective

Escape the Residential Area by equipping the yard for demolition and paperwork: take the hammer and shovel, clear the brick pile to find the wolf-shaped nameplate, solve the wall knob puzzle to enter the room with the safe and generator, break the cracked wall for the wiring puzzle, find the pickaxe and dig up the animal-pattern clue that starts the generator, enter 14589 on the safe to get the guardhouse key, then in the booth match red, green, blue, and yellow to the correct animal icons so the main gate opens and you can leave.

Step-by-Step Solution

  1. Yard sweep. Start among the abandoned buildings and overgrown courtyard, clicking every debris pile and lintel. You need the heavy tools first—nothing else gates cleanly until you can break and dig.

  2. Hammer and shovel. Lift the sledgehammer from the rubble and recover the shovel tucked by the compound gateway or fence siding; both stay in inventory for alternating brute force and excavation checks.

  3. Wolf plaque. Indoors, target the stacked bricks or mortar heap and scoop it away with the shovel until the wolf-shaped nameplate (or embossed wolf tag) lies exposed—read its palette; you will mirror it in the guard shack later.

  4. Knob vault door. Return to the exterior wall panel dressed with rotary cylinders or combination knobs. Twist them according to nearby scratches or yard sightlines until the hidden chamber opens, revealing a safe, generator, and cracked wall sections.

  5. Breached wiring. Swing the hammer on the fissured plaster until the cavity reveals a circuit reroute board: swap jumpers or drag leads until the schematic shows closed loop—this usually arms power rails but may not yet spin the generator.

  6. Pickaxe glyph. Locate the pickaxe (often leaning near timbers or rubble), then chip the soil patch that hides a painted animal diagram or fossil stencil. That motif tells you how to prime the generator controls—match species or stroke order exactly.

  7. Safe 14589. After the generator hums and indicator lamps steady, approach the safe and dial 1-4-5-8-9 (as shown in the featured run—copy your in-game readout if localization tweaks digits). The tray should present the guardhouse key.

  8. Color fauna lock. Unlock the gatekeeper shack and confront the four-slot panel: assign red, green, blue, and yellow inputs to the animal icons you memorized from the wolf plaque and any companion signage. Confirm each pairing before submitting.

  9. Main gate. When the chromatic board flashes clear, sprint to the principal courtyard doors. The mag bolts withdraw, letting you walk out to the world map teaser for the following scene.

  10. Wrap. Inventory should be empty of one-use wiring bits; if the gate stays red, re-run the generator sequence before assuming the color puzzle failed.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • Snapshot the wolf tag hues before you leave the building—Residential Area loves reusing the same quartet indoors and out.

  • Knob puzzles often expect you to face them from a specific compass direction; if a cylinder will not catch, step one tile left and re-read the scratch marks.

  • Treat 14589 as five distinct detents; rapid dialing can skip a lug on touch builds.

  • Wire the breaker board before spading the glyph—some ports disable the dig site until voltage is staged.

⚠️ Common Mistakes

  • Hammering the wrong weak wall segment and wasting durability on solid mesh backing.

  • Opening the safe before the generator online flag appears, yielding an empty handle spin.

  • Mapping yellow to the wolf just because the plaque showed a wolf—color, not species, anchors the shack logic.

  • Misassigning animals at the guard panel when only the color strips from signage map to each icon slot.
